Do you really want to know how to get motivated and how to stay motivated? Do you want to know how to really turn your life around in a very positive way! Today I spent the day at the Get Motivated Seminar. What an incredible day.
I’m going to give you a little sip from the fountains of motivation, and hopefully you will be intrigued enough to get online and want to learn how to get motivated yourself, by attending one of these great seminars.
What I’d like to share with you is a bit of the wisdom I gleaned from each one of the speakers.
So, without further adieu, I’ll begin.
The seminar was opened appropriately by Dr. Robert Schuller.
Dr. Robert Schuller’s most notable take-away for me was to completely remove the work IMPOSSIBLE from your vocabulary.
He said that if you make a decision before you count the cost, and if you have the faith, then God has the power.
He shared that it could take up to your whole life to create your dream. So what ?? What if it does take your whole life. At least you will achieve your goal.
He had a very inspirational close, saying that we should never look at what we’ve lost, only at what we have left.
Next up was Krish Dhanam
This man was virtually unknown (to me) when he walked on stage. Born in South India, Krish Dhanam has achieved the American dream.
Some of the more notable things he said that really stuck in my head were as follows:
You don’t need to know everything before you arrive.
3% of the population operate in the effective zone, 97% operate in the comfort zone. The space between the two is “The Edge”
The problem is not how to set goals, the problem is a matter of discipline
He spoke on the subject of what Leadership is, and explained it by using an acronym with the word “GRACE”
Here’s how it went:
G – Genuine Leadership (If you’re happy, tell your face)
R – Restored relations (Fix what’s wrong with family, friends and relationships)
A – Amicable Partnerships (Hope without gratitude is hopelessness)
C – Complete Ownership
E – Effective Stewardship
We all have a call, aspiration and a purpose, and fulfilling it is our obligation.
Give more than you have, leave more than you take and always, ALWAYS give praise to the inner circle.
The seminar was jam packed with talented speakers. More to follow! Keep an eye out for the recap of the next two speakers.
Debbie, sounds like a great seminar. I have no problem keeping myself motivated, but still it helps in creating energy to listen to experts in the field. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your follow up post.

Thanks for sharing Deb…I have been to a couple of these in past years but it sounds like they have a new line up of speakers. I read Robert Schuller’s autobiography…very powerful stuff. He really lived his message and it is very refreshing.
I look forward to more…

Good post with some notable quotes. Schuller has been on the front of Possibility thinking for decades. That is what it is all about, “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen would go well with what you are posting. Thanks for keeping this important topic in the forefront.

Debbie,
Thanks so much for the recap. I LOVE Dr. Schuller’s work and his positive attitude about life. It’s so true, we’re going to be alive all of our life, so why not create a goal that will take us that long to accomplish. The “GRACE” acronym was nice as well. I can’t wait for Part 2!
Thanks again,
Adam

What a great seminar! Thanks for sharing it here. That step will help in having you take home what was shared and have it stick. I like that spot about “not counting the cost…” of achieving your goal.

Hi Debbie,
Get Motivated is a great event to have attended myself. I appreciate you sharing the highlights of some of the speakers who were at the event you attended as neither were speaking at the one I went to in Tulsa, OK & always enjoy learning from those I’ve not heard yet. =) I look forward to reading your next part!

Debbie, The quote that jumped out at me is “The problem is not how to set goals. The problem is a matter of discipline.” The 3% vs. 97% is well known, but when you put the two together it is REALLY powerful! I’ll be looking forward to more posts on the seminar!

Yes, the energy was amazing. The seminars have a lot of stuff that you can buy up to, but even if all you do is go for the basics, you come away with a TON of great information.

Hey Deb,
This was an amazing seminar. I attended it in Tampa and was totally pumped. What’s really important for each of us is that we stay motivated after the events we attend and take inspired action.
I highly recommend that everybody checks out this seminar when it comes around next year, well worth the time!
