imagesDo you really want to know how to get motivated and how to stay motivated? Do you want to know how to really turn your life around in a very positive way! Today I spent the day at the Get Motivated Seminar. What an incredible day.

I’m going to give you a little sip from the fountains of motivation, and hopefully you will be intrigued enough to get online and want to learn how to get motivated yourself, by attending one of these great seminars.

What I’d like to share with you is a bit of the wisdom I gleaned from each one of the speakers.

So, without further adieu, I’ll begin.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
imagesThe seminar was opened appropriately by Dr. Robert Schuller.
Dr. Robert Schuller’s most notable take-away for me was to completely remove the work IMPOSSIBLE from your vocabulary.
He said that if you make a decision before you count the cost, and if you have the faith, then God has the power.
He shared that it could take up to your whole life to create your dream. So what ?? What if it does take your whole life. At least you will achieve your goal.
He had a very inspirational close, saying that we should never look at what we’ve lost, only at what we have left.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

imagesNext up was Krish Dhanam

This man was virtually unknown (to me) when he walked on stage. Born in South India, Krish Dhanam has achieved the American dream.

Some of the more notable things he said that really stuck in my head were as follows:

You don’t need to know everything before you arrive.

3% of the population operate in the effective zone, 97% operate in the comfort zone. The space between the two is “The Edge”

The problem is not how to set goals, the problem is a matter of discipline

He spoke on the subject of what Leadership is, and explained it by using an acronym with the word “GRACE”

Here’s how it went:

G – Genuine Leadership (If you’re happy, tell your face)

R – Restored relations (Fix what’s wrong with family, friends and relationships)

A – Amicable Partnerships (Hope without gratitude is hopelessness)

C – Complete Ownership

E – Effective Stewardship

We all have a call, aspiration and a purpose, and fulfilling it is our obligation.

Give more than you have, leave more than you take and always, ALWAYS give praise to the inner circle.

The seminar was jam packed with talented speakers. More to follow! Keep an eye out for the recap of the next two speakers.

    Good post with some notable quotes. Schuller has been on the front of Possibility thinking for decades. That is what it is all about, “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen would go well with what you are posting. Thanks for keeping this important topic in the forefront.

  5. Debbie,
    Thanks so much for the recap. I LOVE Dr. Schuller’s work and his positive attitude about life. It’s so true, we’re going to be alive all of our life, so why not create a goal that will take us that long to accomplish. The “GRACE” acronym was nice as well. I can’t wait for Part 2!
    Thanks again,

    Get Motivated is a great event to have attended myself. I appreciate you sharing the highlights of some of the speakers who were at the event you attended as neither were speaking at the one I went to in Tulsa, OK & always enjoy learning from those I’ve not heard yet. =) I look forward to reading your next part!

  8. Debbie, The quote that jumped out at me is “The problem is not how to set goals. The problem is a matter of discipline.” The 3% vs. 97% is well known, but when you put the two together it is REALLY powerful! I’ll be looking forward to more posts on the seminar!

  17. Debbie,

    Sounds like an amazing seminar. It’s amazing how often people feel they can’t achieve their dreams because they’re too old. Yet Dr. Robert Schuller puts it so well when he says it doesn’t matter if it takes your whole life… the main thing is you’ve succeeded! We believe the key is to never give up… with enough desire and passion, you’ll get there.

    Thanks,

  18. Both men contributed very powerful information! What Robert Schuller said hits close to home for me as you will be surprised at what doors will open up for you when you start working toward your goals. Yes, walking in faith and not by sight, working on what you can to make you dreams happen and the right doors will open at the right time so you will succeed!

    Great information!

  20. Chris says:

    Seminars with this kind of content simply rock and they definately take your motivation to a new level. The foundation for motivation has to come from within as every day is filled with wonderful gifts and substantial challenges.

    If you plan on being self employed and you’re not mentally prepared with a strong foundation of internal burning desire and motivation you’ll find the journey very challenging and like many, you’ll give up before you even get started.

    Changing the way you think for most people takes time and you have to retool how you think and your self talk to stay motivated. One of the best quotes I ever heard that helped me immensely from Peter Ragnar was simply “When you control your mind, you control your life”. Thanks for the inspiring article.

    Thanks for the comments Chris. You’re so dead on right about everything. I just last week went to another Get Motivated seminar in Cleveland and will be reporting on that one soon. Love the quote too! Thanks for visiting, I appreciate you being here.
