10 Top Reasons to Build a Wordpress Blog

There are blogs and then THERE ARE BLOGS. And, contrary to popular belief, all blogs were not created equal.
There are certain blogging platforms that just stand head and shoulders above the rest in all categories.
If you’re going to go through the time and trouble to build a blog, you really want one that is going to stand out among all the rest in the sea of seemingly endless blogs on the Internet.
Why is Wordpress.org the greatest blog you can ever build? Well let me count the ways that it is superior to all other blogs out there, bar none:
No. 1 – Wordpress.org is absolutely free. Yes, free. You do have to pay for hosting, but most have that with their websites anyhow. And hosting nowadays is cheap and it’s well worth it to host this great blog.
No. 2 - You have total control of what your blog looks like and what your posts talk about. Nobody dictates what you can say or do. If you want a pink blog with big purple polka dots, so be it. You have the power and NOBODY can ever take it away from you.
No. 3 - Wordpress provides free templates (I’m going to say hundreds of thousands of them). It will make your head spin to look at them all. There are also paid versions of the templates for very little money. I recommend StudioPress for this. They’re very inexpensive and very easy to work with. They also configure to all computers automatically, which is nice. You have exactly two seconds to make a good impression on the Internet. That’s how long it takes someone to click off your page if they don’t like it. Look professional and you will be ahead of the game.
No. 4 – Wordpress has a built-in blogroll feature. The easiest way to tell you what this is would be to just give you the definition, according to Wikipedia.
A list of blogs on a blog (usually placed in the sidebar of a blog) that reads as a list of recommendations by the blogger of other blogs.
No. 5 – They’re very active in Wordpress development features. New stuff comes out all the time.
No. 6 – There are thousands of plugins for Wordpress.org and they’re all free. You can customize your blog to fit your exact specifications. You don’t have to conform to what someone else likes.
No. 7 – Wordpress is plug and play. It has a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) screen. You can highlight a line and make it a clickable link with the push of a key. It’s great for a novice and the learning curve is relatively painless.
No. 8 – SEO (Search Engine Optimization) can be enhanced by a number of available plugins. Search engines love Wordpress.org. If you even get 1/2 good at developing a keyword strategy for your blog posting, Google will gobble you up and push you up in the rankings like daffodils in the spring!
No. 9 – You can leverage your social media and social bookmarking sites through Wordpress.org. Also content syndication is really easy in the Wordpress community. Using features like Comment Luv and Recent Comments makes sharing your blog on other Wordpress user’s blogs a snap. You can use the Wordpress photo gallery plugin to share photos too.
No. 10 – Lots and lots of support. Wordpress.org is becoming more and more popular as the days go by. To keep up with the demand of many new users coming on board every day, many sites are popping up to support questions that are raised.
So, now that you know the 10 advantages of Wordpress.org, are you ready to start your own?
Come join the party, you’ll have a blast!!
Wordpress is really great Debbie. It really is made for both the newbie and advanced blogger. Obviously google absolutely loves it which doesn’t stink either.

I know Glenn, that’s what I LOVE about it. You can be a pro or a novice and get the job done! Wordpress is the best, but the caveat here is that it must be a .org, not a .net. .Net is different. Always use Wordpress.org.

Debbie,
These are some wonderful points as to why you should choose a Wordpress blog over any other type of blog. I especially like reason #3 since there are so many marketers I see building their blogs only to ultimately not have any real control over them.
Your blog is without a doubt the NUMBER ONE business property you could ever own…. BAR NONE. It is the central hub for all of your marketing & networking activities. It is what sets you apart from the masses and gives you the unique flavor that will draw others to you.
Bottom line here is that if you are going to be in business then why not just do it right the first time and go with a Wordpress blog?

Hi Debbie,
I think your blog looks great and you continue to post useful content. I have to admit, I used Blogger before Wordpress and there is no comparison. The options are endless with Wordpress and the fact that your site is 100% yours makes all the difference when you are trying to brand yourself.
Thank you for sharing.

Hey Debbie!
This is such important information for anyone looking for a blogging platform. I’ve been building blogs for other online marketers, and one of the things I’m seeing over and over is people who have existing blogs that are not functional. After investing all the time and expense of creating their blogs they learn after the fact that they really need a Wordpress blog – and are faced with the need to re-invest to create a site that will work for them.
I know your post specifies that wordpress.org is the platform to use, but I think it deserves extra emphasis. Visitors may be confused by the fact that there is a wordpress.org and a wordpress.com. Wordpress.org is definitely the one they want
Your blog’s looking awesome. I love this Lifestyle theme!
