Do you know the definition of “Burn Out?”
Here’s what the dictionary says about it: A physical and mental collapse caused by overwork and stress.
Doesn’t sound fun, does it?
Do you play every day. Do you have fun times every day, or do you just work, work, work?
I can tell you that if all you do is work, you WILL burn out eventually. Let it be remembered that variety is the spice of life.
OK, I know what you’re thinking. You’re supposed to do two things every day in your business, right. Well, yes that’s true, but one thing you must remember is to take breaks and play.
Let me give you an example.
Have you ever sat at your computer totally stumped on what to write? Maybe you’re trying to write an article or an autoresponder series, or perhaps a blog post. =)
The words aren’t coming, the content isn’t coming. What do you do.
For me, this is particularly devastating because I committed to write 90 posts in 90 days for my 90 day challenge. One of the fun things that I did today was went to watch my son play soccer. When I came home we had a pig roast! It was a really fun day, and today I can sit back down and begin fresh, after a little bit of play.
It’s tough to get two things done for my business every day AND write a post ever day if I can’t think straight because my mind has gone to mush from so much going on inside.
Here’s the solution:
Do something fun! That’s it, simple right? Everyone can think of something fun to do.
Need a start, try these things?
- Take your dog for a walk. (My dog particularly like this option)
- Take a long, leisurely bubble bath. Light a candle and take a glass of your favorite beverage. (This is a particularly good choice if it’s cold outside)
- Get a massage.
- Get a pedicure. (My particular favorite, you can see her in the picture above)
- Go to the park and just hang out and enjoy nature.
- Go horseback riding. (My daughter’s favorite)
- Read a book. (Extra benefit if you choose a motivational or self-help book)
When you come back and go back to work you mind will be fresh and ready to go.
Try this once and it will make a believer out of you.

Great post Debbie! So many people forget to balance their day with something fun and enjoyable. Isn’t that why we are entrepreneurs, because we are trying to get out of a job? If I wanted to work nonstop all day, I would just go get another 9-5.
Keep it coming Debbie!

All I can say is “I am sooo proud of you.”
It takes self-discipline to actually keep promises to yourself. Psychologically, we are the first to let ourselves off the hook, because we essentially believe all our own excuses. If we’ve come up with the excuses, chances are we believe their importance, or should I say the importance we have given them.
Nothing has meaning, save the meaning you give it.
(So who is it that is giving it importance? mmmm?? .. so does that mean we can actually decide to change the importance we give something? mmmm?? .. you mean I can actually CREATE my own reality? mmmm??)
Anyway, back to the post topic at hand .. it is VERY EASY to make an excuse more important than it really is … subconsciously giving yourself a way out … especially if you’ve been doing it for years.
Just BEING aware of your habit of “Taking yourself out” is perhaps the most profound awakening you can have, because you are taking responsibility for your choices in that moment that you become “the observer” of your own thoughts, rather than the believer, or the participant, or the victim.
When you realise you can choose your thoughts, you then become more deliberate in your creation. I love what you are creating, my friend.
Congratulations are well due.
Keep up the great work … one day at a time!
